On 12 February 2026, the Refugee Advisory Board Germany (RAB Germany) participated in the High-Level Dialogue on the Future of Refugee Protection in Berlin, hosted by the International Rescue Committee (IRC) and the Robert Bosch Stiftung.
The event brought together key stakeholders from international organisations, government institutions and civil society to discuss the future of refugee protection. Central themes included the credibility of protection systems, responsibility-sharing among states and the need to strengthen inclusive and sustainable responses to global displacement.
Representing the RAB Germany, Zohra Wandaa contributed as a panelist, sharing perspectives grounded in lived experience. The discussion was moderated by Mojib Atal, facilitating an exchange on current challenges and opportunities within global protection frameworks.
The dialogue further benefited from contributions by high-level representatives, including Niels Annen (BMZ), Ruvendrini Menikdiwela (UNHCR), David Miliband (IRC), as well as experts from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the Robert Bosch Stiftung.
RAB Germany’s participation underscored the importance of ensuring that refugee voices are meaningfully included in shaping policies and protection systems. Engagement in the dialogue contributed to strengthening visibility and fostering exchange with key actors working towards more equitable and sustainable refugee protection responses.
